Clearinghouse requirements, managed on schedule
The FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse comes with employer duties that are easy to miss: queries when you hire, queries every year for every CDL driver, and — for owner-operators — the requirement to designate a consortium/third-party administrator.
TenFour manages the administrative side: we track what queries your operation needs and when, prepare them, and keep the records straight. Actions inside government portals are performed by a person, as the rules require.
What we do
Registration guidance
We walk you through Clearinghouse registration and get your account set up correctly.
Query scheduling
Pre-employment queries when you add a driver, and annual queries for every current CDL driver — tracked and prepared so none are missed.
C/TPA coordination
Owner-operators must designate a C/TPA. We coordinate with your consortium so the pieces connect.
Recordkeeping
Query results and consents are filed where you can find them.
Who it's for: Every carrier employing CDL drivers — and especially owner-operators, who carry employer duties for themselves.
Common questions
How often do I need to run Clearinghouse queries?
Employers run a full pre-employment query before a new CDL driver operates, and at least one query per year on every employed CDL driver. We track both cycles for you.
I'm an owner-operator with no employees. Does this apply to me?
Yes. Under your own authority you are the employer — and FMCSA requires owner-operators to designate a consortium/third-party administrator (C/TPA).
Does TenFour log into the Clearinghouse for me?
We prepare everything and a human performs the steps that must happen inside the government portal, consistent with the system's terms.
